Some of these are really really bad attempts to keep this thread relevant until October.

If something comes across the wire or via LakersNation re: the Lakers, I post about it here. It isn't my fault that someone, somewhere is always writing about the Lakers.

My friend over at LakersNation said that at the recent 3 on 3 Competition at LA Live last weekend, he saw 2 people with "WINLESS" signs. Months back I had told him about the Sizzle hack job I didnt and showed him a copy. Now, a few months later, some people have made them into signs and you can now get a WINLESS puppet hand t-shirt. So my mojo is catching on!

I am really hoping that someone will bust out a WINLESS sign at one of the nationally televised games next season.....esp when LBJ comes to Staples. Then my journey will be complete.

Another blogger op-ed on the potential return of Shaq to LA. This is an interesting point......now that each has won without the other, this is no longer a Shaq v Kobe or Kobe v Shaq issue. It is now a race for rings and legacy....Shaq to catch Kareem and Kobe to catch MJ.

Shaq seems to know this, which is why he hooked up with the Cavs (a much better shot to win a title than with Phoenix). A return to the purple and gold makes sense from his perspective....young nucleus, poised for a few more title runs, and he would only be expected to play bench minutes.

I personally don't think the Lakers need him....but it is an interesting storyline.

http://utcpla24.mylakersnation.com/2...a-laker-again/

Quote:
I do believe that his desire to become the most dominant big man ever (which he perceives will only happen if he can get more rings than Kareem) is enough to humble him to play the role he is assigned, and to be a great teammate in the process.

Laker Euros want to play Eurobasket....Pow, The Machine, and Mbenga are all expected to play.

I think I would clamp down on players in the offseason. Too much potential for injury with almost no benefit for the local team. There is an argument to be made for marketing and branding if your NBA Euro plays overseas in a summer tournament. But I wonder what effect such exposure really has for the local NBA franchise?

Apparently Sasha has a sore knee, as well.

I agree. I hate these Euroleague or FIBA tournaments. I doubt it could be done, but it'd be nice to have stipulations in contracts regarding international play save the Olympics and requisite qualifying matches. At the very least if they are allowed to play there should be some caveat as to forfeiture of salary should they miss any games due to injury received in said games.

Sasha and Mbenga could both use the extra work. Maybe the Machine can find his shooting stroke overseas as most of those guys play very well when reacclimated to the Euro game. Kirilenko looks like the second coming of Jesus Shuttlesworth when he suits up for Russia -- good thing Sloan puts him back in his place pretty quickly. Pao needs to just sit down and rest.

Yeah, I am fine with Mbenga and Sasha playing. Not so fine with Pau playing.

Lamar training. Just posted these to his twitter account. Looks like Artest is rubbing off on him already...

Hey guys, Lamar Odom. Tall, lanky, kind of pointy-headed, just re-signed with the Lakers. Loves candy. You remember this guy, I'm guessing.

But did you also know that he's also a budding fashion designer? Totes true! He makes shirts with fiery Jesus heads, derogatory Boston comments, and as of now, hand symbols from a Nelly music video.

From his Rich Soil Clothing company, Odom has printed up some "LA Forever" shirts, which were presumably kept under wraps to help his negotiations.

Available from Rich Soil's website for a completely reasonable $28, the shirts come in purple/gold or white/black and prominently feature the Lakers' newest championship ring.

Try not to drop your Jolly Ranchers on this one. Those things stain immediately.

Lamar has been into clothes for a long time. He owns a few different clothing-related companies. If you recall all those wild shirts he was wearing in the post-season....his company designed them.

I actually think Lamar has been somewhat behind this recent NBA trend of wearing epaulette straps and half-length sleeves. I actually like the look. I'd get one of those shirts, esp the ones with several pockets.

Gidget got me one of those with long sleeves for Christmas last year. I love it. FN Phat teased me in it.

I think the Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic crew are selling short sleeved ones and calling them pilot shirts.

Yes, they are pretty popular now. I have seen them at sample sales and now more and more they are popping up here and there in regular retail places.

I definitely know Lamar was rocking these at least a year ago. Gotta give him credit where it is due.

I have no room to talk. The only multi-pocket shirt I wear is something like this...

Kobe Bryant....An Unfolding Legend

http://www.lakersnation.com/kobe-bry...nd/2009/08/21/

Quote:
After the departure of O'Neal a very interesting thing happened to Bryant, he had to start over. He had tasted the success of championships and had been to the top of the mountain, but he was now nothing more than a spectacular player on an average team. Looking back now it is easy to see that the worst years, by team record, in Bryant's career were the final missing pieces in what has become a legendary puzzle. Bryant learned, painfully and brutally, just how hard it is to cement a legacy and become a legend. Sure Sportscenter and YouTube loved his scoring binges, culminating in a breathtaking 81 point explosion in January of 2006, but the team was struggling and the pressure continued to bury Bryant. According to the fans and the media this is exactly what Bryant wanted, his own team to manipulate and lead, and Bryant was coming up short. The pressure continued to mount, continued to pile onto Bryant's already loaded shoulders. The doubt crept in even more as the ghost of Shaquille O'Neal loomed larger with every loss and every Bryant shortcoming. However, like he had done in the past, in every previous instance where he was told he could not, Bryant came out and proved that he could, and more importantly, that he would.

Clips waive The Mad Dog. Do the Lakers need a crowd-pleasing backup for $1 or $2M?

They will have an open spot on the bench. He always gets the crowd and bench mob going.

The History of Champions

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=13611

Which is the greatest NBA franchise of all-time?

One amazing factoid: there have been 63 NBA Finals. The Lakers have played in 30 of them.

He and Mateen Cleeves brought out the best in each other in those Lakers/Kings series in the early 00s. Each guy out-chestbumping, out-towel waving, and out-highfiving the other. They took it to a whole new level back then that we haven't seen since.

Very cool video. Some quality work there. That video reminded me just how nasty Shannon Brown's dunk was on Birdman.
